Volumetric Mixer Equipment

‘Volumetric Mixers’ produce a variety of cement based materials using a powerful auger to deliver quantities from as little as 1 tonne up to 11 cubic metres. This flexibility has been developed in the utilities industry to produce a flowable backfill material for trench re-instatement.

Over the last two years considerable testing of the Cement Bound Excavated Material (CEBM3) has seen the increase of recycled trench arisings used as the aggregate content of the mix. This technique is providing a reinstatement material of equivalent strength to the surrounding construction, removing the risk of poor compaction due to voids and the failure that is attributed to using virgin unbound material. Productivity levels increase as the trench can be filled quickly to a level requiring less asphalt to complete the works.
